Just a Bit Off The Top Please

I was having this discussion with a co-worker who is soon to be the father of a pre-determined baby boy. As a father I have been through it all already and am a pro, as you will.

He asked for advice and I was expecting:
- "What kind of Stroller should I get?"
- "Do you still, you know....do it?"
- "What's the, you know...milk taste like?"

I was prepared for these questions as these were my specialty, having asked everyone I knew before I had one. But he asked about Circumcision and that caught me off guard. His prenatal course teacher and his medulla oblongata or whatever told him that circumcision is the devil. These rather pushy opinions coming from non other than females.

Follow the link to read more about circumcisions:

I went through this all as well. The nurse that ran our prenatal course showed us slides of massacred "bits" on new borns and only dwelled on the negatives of it. I thought bringing up the sex life of my future child was a bit weird but I took it all in anyways. Apparently the sex is better, like that should make the decision easier.

After countless nurses telling us not to do it because it's horrible, we decided not to. Worst...Mistake...Ever. I am not trained in the delicate art of pulling back foreskin, nor is my wife. I have never seen one up close, thankfully, and as well my wife hasn't either, so she says. I am not comfortable asking the hot librarian where I can find a book on Foreskins, one with pictures preferably. I am also under the impression that anything showcasing video or images of children's wee wee's are prohibited around these parts.

This is not an instinct we have as parents. If you are NOT cut, then don't do it. If Junior ever sees your member he will be pleased to know he is built the same as daddy. No strange questions coming your way. I will have to tell my son one day that I was bit by a dog, or that I stepped on it, or daddy sneezed when he was trimming with skizzors. If you have been under the knife, then do it, unless you are experienced with one, then that's just freaking weird.

Woman nurses, you are stirring a pot in which you have no spoon of your own...so you're just shaking it, shaking the baby. I am a firm believer that NO man should ever have any say in the choices a woman makes regarding her body, regardless of what the decision is. You would think the same applies the other way around. Leave the decision up to dad and don't pressure him. It still is the single biggest regret I have as a father and it's your fault nursey.

Soon to be Dad's, you let me know if any nurses out there are pressuring you into making junior look different. You tell her that Jealosy is a wasted emotion and then you email me here: Lukedotmccullumatgmaildotcom
