Wines of Portugal - A Tasting

Took the afternoon off today. A rare feat to be sure. Checked out the Wines of Portugal tasting at the Four Seasons. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, especially after hitting the cheese plate and the mini beef dips. But enough about that how about the wine? Here are some of my tasting notes and highlights:
Forat de Evora, 2006
This was at the first table. Everything tasted a little flat until this one. It tasted like the earth give it a big wet kiss. It was a gorgeous color, and dry like Stanley on The Office. I like my wine from heritage sites, and Evora is. [Cartuxa]
Adega Coop Borba Reserve 2006
The wine rep here was wearing a pretty sweet sweater/jacket combo and was euro charming. This wine has a smug cork label. It's deep red color masked a nice pepper flavor. I could see myself drinking this at the table with some meats. [Adega Coop Borba]
Casal Garcia, 2007
Not only did this crisp and chilled to perfection white have a blue tinted bottle, it also tasted perfect. The label stated for you to chill this bad boy, and it was as good as any clean New Zealand white I've had in the last year. Best part is, this is a $11.49 bottle. HELLO! [Aveleda]
Campolargo 2007
Finally a pinot. This was at 4:11PM if you care to know Mr. Hirner. This one gave off the very pleasant odor of a Portugese barnyard. Ahhhhhhhh. Drink it in. Beside me are two lovely women, one with a moleskin taking note, the other looking like a stewardess. Both are epic and stunning as they are spitting out there wine. [Campolargo]
Carm Grande Reserve 2006
This 20$ in the stores red is organic, old vine, and traditionally tasty. Maybe it was the Dean Martin playing while I sipped this one, but this was a pure little afternoon delight.
Ninfa Touriga Nacional and Syrah 2005
This pink labeled gem of a wine was smooth, round, deep red, and full of fun. Kind of like Kate Winslet as she was in Sense and Sensibility. Young and Lovely, but all woman.
Lapa Dos Gaivoes - 2006
Another one from the same winery as the Ninfa Pink, but this time the theme isn't Kate, but weathers originals. This has this sweet caramel-like flavor. [JTMB]
Dona Maria Amantis - 2007 Viognier
I wrote down that I could literally take a long summer swim in this viognier. A beautiful crisp drinking white that would do amazing things for a patio and an ice bucket. [Donamaria]
Casa das Mouras Reserva Douro - 2003
This one was a showstopper. Full bodied - maybe even a Kate Winslet from Titanic - berries, chocolate, and the girl said balsamic, which just the thought of is amazing.
Only Red Dao 2004
This dark red color was amazing, and this intense wine was like eating a grape in someways. Thickly and decadent it was crying out for some grilled meats or sausage.
