Twitter Followings & Thoughts

I've been trying to figure out Twitter for some time. Figure out is too strong a word. I mean if the the boomers are able to get social media, then it shouldn't be that hard. It's pretty simple. I think you just hear so much blather about 'social media' and you tune it out. I like it since it is short, but lets be honest. it is full of complete garbage 90% of the time. And there are a lot, A LOT, of people impersonating "expertise" all over the place. I don't need to know every time you post to your blog. I don't need to know when you are blogging. Unless you are doing those things in such a way that I laugh off my chair.

Don't waste a perfectly good dropping of the word 'douche' with an Ellipsis. I think too often people think that if they post it, they will come. As if hooking people in with something wasn't important. That somehow the context and medium take care of everything. And it's too bad, since in this case, you get such a rewarding rant when you click through to the blogpost.

Now this is how you do it. Even the most inane post can be as amusing and interesting as a Shakespearean sonnet. Especially when you threaten all of Hollywood with a crane-kick. This is a lot better than the usual "I just went to the bathroom" twitters.

And it's these kind of 140 character masterpieces that make Twitter go. The idea of getting 'a blago' is pure awesome, insane, and funny. 140 character can give you more laughs than a 90 minute episode of SNL.

I know I'm hanging on Gregor Robertson's every breathless twitter post. I think social media is great, but this kind of a post seems to be rather amusing. Should a mayor have time to Twiiter? Should he focused on Green Cities right now? It's like he's doing his own PR. I'm completely not interested.
