Svend Game

Politics is totallyhard. And mean. And not everyone thought acclaiming Svend Robinson to run for parliament again was a good idea. Mark Bonokoski writing the Toronto Sun talks about cesspools and kettles being called black.

"How can Jack Layton accuse the Liberals of 'helping themselves' in the sponsorship scandal, for example, when he has given his blessing to Sunday's endorsement of Svend Robinson, a politician who helped himself to a $50,000 antique ring while still sitting in the House of Commons. Truth is, he can't."

At least the Liberals are at least torn about somebody like Micheal Ignatieff's nuclear candidacy. But Svend? Nope the NDP loves him.

Lots of personalities are caught red handed. In Quebec, it happened to a couple of highly regarded figures, among which is Claude Charron, a former PQ minister in the 1980's. He was caught stealing a coat.

Years later, he said he did it to commit "political suicide", to find a way out. In any case, he was not totally sane methinks.

Lorraine Pagé, leader of the union of teachers was caught stealing gloves. She resigned.

Of the two, Charron is now a TV host and news reader.

Do people like that deserve a second chance? sure. Do they deserve your trust to administer your money? Ah... don't think so!

So if his electers to be are not fools, they'll simply say: "no thanks Svend, go read news on tv instead".
